My Role as a leader is to help you do your job better by building the team, removing obstacles, improving efficiency and helping you to grow as a professional.
My Goal is to create an environment for success by communicating objectives clearly, taking in feedback on how to best accomplish mission objectives and share that plan with other teams and clients. If my goal is achieved the team will be improved by my presence but my absence will not be a hindrance to accomplishing the mission.
My Values are:
- Integrity - I am a professional. My words and actions should align and I will act with honesty and respect. I expect the same from my teams.
- Curiosity - I am always looking to learn and improve. Mistakes are opportunities to grow. Processes can always be improved. I prefer to lead with curiosity over criticism.
- Diversity - Diversity is a strength and brings valuable perspectives to our teams and clients. I value teams that work together as team players while recognizing that there are “differences that make a difference”.
My Expectations are:
- Provide Solutions Not Problems - I always want to be accountable not only for identifying issues but in helping to provide solutions.
- Assume Good Intent - I assume good intent until proven otherwise. If you have an issue, communicate clearly and directly and work with me to avoid misunderstanding.
- Always Be Prepared - I value doing the work to prepare before the meeting, taking initiative, and keeping commitments.
- Honest Communication - If I don’t know something, I’ll admit it and say that I will find out. I believe in communicating early and often if commitments can’t be met because bad news doesn’t get better with time.
- Respect is Given Not Earned - This is a non negotiable. Even when I disagree I believe in doing so respectfully. Lying & verbal abuse are unacceptable.
My Principles include:
- Work to Live Not Live to Work. Service, Family, Values & Mission give our life purpose. My life outside of work allows me to do my best work inside work. Never be afraid to take time needed for personal things.
- Praise Widely and Publicly, Criticize Privately. If there is a mistake, it is mine to own as a leader, and any success belongs to the team.
- You Own Your Career. Leaders can help you get where you want to go but you need a clear direction and to share what you do and don’t enjoy.
- Timing is Everything. Know your audience and identify the right time and place for key conversations. Discuss and prepare internally before discussing with clients.
- “In God we trust, all others must bring data”. Data provides the basis for good decisions. Have a point of view and be prepared to provide evidence.
